If your circumstances change

Update your income estimate with Services Australia as soon as your circumstances change, rather than waiting for an annual reconciliation. • Compare daily fees across nearby centres. Fees vary more than families expect for similar quality, so it is worth getting more than one quote.
• Ask about part-time or fewer-day patterns. Reducing from five days to three or four, if your routine allows it, lowers your weekly gap fee proportionally.
• Check family day care as an alternative. Daily fees tend to sit a little lower than centre-based long day care on average, though it varies by educator.
